Job description

Chief Operating Officer Instructional Empowerment exists to transform teaching and learning so every student has access to rigorous, engaging instruction that prepares them for success in school and life. We partner with school districts across the country to improve instructional practice, strengthen leadership, and produce measurable gains in student achievement.

Our work is driven by a bold purpose; helping schools eliminate achievement gaps and break cycles of generational poverty by improving the quality of Tier 1 instruction.

Today we are a mid-size company with approximately 100 employees serving districts nationwide. Tomorrow, we intend to become the premier partner for instructional transformation in K-12 education.

We're looking for a Chief Operating Officer who wants to help build that future. This is not a maintenance role. This is a builder's opportunity.

Are you that builder?

The Opportunity
  • As Chief Operating Officer, you will serve as the CEO's strategic operating partner, translating visions into disciplined execution across the company.
  • You will lead the organization's operating rhythm, develop exceptional leaders, build scalable systems, establish three high-performing business units and ensure every department is aligned around measurable goals.
  • Success in this role isn't measured by how well you manage operations. It's measured by how effectively you build an organization capable of achieving extraordinary results.
  • If you enjoy building leaders, creating systems that scale, solving complex organizational challenges and holding teams accountable for results, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Build

Over the next several years you will help build

  • Three thriving business units with outstanding leadership
  • Develop a world-class leadership team capable of scaling a company
  • Create organizational systems that support sustainable growth
  • Increase revenue while improving profitability
  • Build a culture where data drives decisions and execution wins
  • Free the CEO to focus on vision, innovation, strategic partnerships, acquisitions and long-term growth.
Success Looks Like

Within your first 24 months you will have:

  • Successfully established three high-performing business units.
  • Recruited and developed exceptional business unit leadership.
  • Upgraded leadership capability across the company.
  • Improved organizational execution through disciplined operating rhythms.
  • Accelerated revenue growth.
  • Increased operating margins.
  • Created a leadership culture built on accountability, ownership, and measurable results. Who You Are

    You're a builder.

You love taking organizations with tremendous potential and helping them scale.

You enjoy coaching leaders more than solving problems for them.

You thrive on turning strategy into execution.

You believe clear goals, clear metrics, and clear accountability produce extraordinary results.

You aren't interested in maintaining the status quo.

You want to build something significant.

    • 10+ years of progressive executive leadership experience.
    • Experience leading multiple functional departments.
    • Demonstrated success scaling a growth-stage organization.
    • Proven experience building leaders and leadership teams.
    • Strong strategic planning and organizational execution skills.
    • Experience implementing operating systems such as Agile, Lean, OKRs, Scaling Up or similar frameworks.
    • Exceptional communication and coaching skills.
    • Strong analytical and data-driven decision making skills.
    • Experience in growing professional services and software integration companies.

Experience in one or more of the following:
