Job Overview

We are seeking hardworking and dependable Cable Technicians to support various commercial projects throughout the Austin area. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in structured cabling who enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced construction environment.

The Cable Technician I will assist with the installation, termination, and support of low-voltage cabling systems while working alongside experienced technicians and project teams.

Responsibilities
  • Pull, route, and secure low-voltage cable throughout commercial job sites.
  • Assist other technicians with cabling installations and project tasks.
  • Handle, organize, and transport materials throughout the worksite.
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Climb ladders and work in various construction environments.
  • Layout and install cable tray, wireway, buss duct, receptacles, switches, and related devices.
  • Build telecommunications closets, including:
    • Mounting backboards
    • Installing racks and cabinets
    • Installing patch panels and cross-connects
    • Installing fiber optic hardware
  • Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cabling as required.
  • Terminate and test structured cabling systems, including 110 and 66 blocks and patch panels.
  • Assist with conduit installation and wire pulling operations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Required Skills
  • CAT6 cable installation

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
