Job description

Job Title: Press Brake Operator – 2nd ShiftJob Description

The Press Brake Operator on 2nd shift sets up and operates a brake press in a fabrication environment to produce high-quality steel components. This role involves reading blueprints, performing accurate machine setups, and using production tracking software to ensure parts are formed to specification and output goals are met.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints to determine part specifications and appropriate brake press setup.
  • Perform complete machine setups, including selecting and installing proper tooling and configuring machine settings for each job.
  • Operate the brake press safely and efficiently to bend and form steel parts according to production requirements.
  • Verify part dimensions and quality during and after production using basic measurement and math skills.
  • Use ERP software (AS400) to accurately track production output and job progress.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in the fabrication shop.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working on the shop floor.
  • Stand for extended periods and handle the physical demands of operating fabrication equipment throughout the shift.
Essential Skills
  • At least 6 months of experience operating a machine in a production environment.
  • Ability to perform basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and working with decimals.
  • Ability to utilize a computer to enter and track production data.
  • Capability to work on your feet for the duration of the shift in a fabrication shop environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience operating a press brake or similar fabrication equipment.
  • Experience performing your own machine setups, including installing tooling and configuring machine settings.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to set up the machine and create parts accurately.
  • Education or training in machining or fabrication from a technical school or similar program.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as AS400 for production tracking.
