POSITION: Temporary School Social Worker
EFFECTIVE DATE: September 22, 2026 ending December 18, 2026
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties and responsibilities will be assigned at the building level
Collaboration
• Work with teachers, building administration to promote a healthy, positive learning environment for students and staff
• Serve on multidisciplinary teams to promote safe and caring family and home environments
• Participate in community activities that lead to stronger family supports and services
• Constantly increase knowledge of community resources, as well as build relationships with representatives of agencies that can assist students and families
• Attend Parent Fair, Parent Teacher Conferences, Meet the Teacher Night
Assessment Services including but not limited to:
• Teacher/administrator/parent/guardian consultation
• Building-based intervention teams
• Needs assessment of individual students and families utilizing strength based approach
Intervention Services
• Provide individual support services
• Provide group support services
• Consult with staff/parents/guardians
• Participate on the Crisis Response Team
• Participate on the student intervention team
• Advocacy for students, including the areas of child abuse and neglect, confidentiality and encouraging parent involvement Provide appropriate referrals for families
• Plan programming for the school that addresses identified areas of need in the general population
• Promote a positive and caring school community through appropriate intervention
• Assist in the implementation of bullying and drug prevention programming
• Provide guidance lessons to each grade level
Prevention Services including but not limited to:
• Provide programming that addresses issues that lead to a positive school environment that is physically and emotionally safe for all students. This may include conflict resolution, bullying prevention, drug and alcohol safety, body safety and character education.
• Provide opportunities for parent education, support and encouragement
