Job description

The Mobilization Center is hiring Juneau Canvassers to engage Alaskans on key conservation, human rights, government accountability, and democracy issues facing our communities.
Door Canvassers will work with the Juneau Field Manager and the Mobilization Center Chief Operations Officer to interact with Alaskans and maintain relationships with action-takers to sustain long-term support for critical campaigns. Conversations will take place door-to-door, at community events, and through other outreach methods as appropriate.
Our goal is to identify, engage, and activate Alaskan voters on campaigns that protect the resources that sustain our cultures and way of life, while maintaining the health and wellbeing of communities across the state.
Position Overview
This is an entry-level organizing position that provides career-building opportunities within the broader progressive movement. Canvassers will work directly with the Juneau Field Manager, Chief Operations Officer, and program staff to interact with Alaskans on key political and civic issues including, but not limited to, social justice, conservation, equal rights, and fair elections.
Typical work hours fall within 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with some weekend requirements. Schedules may shift depending on campaign needs. Canvassers will work with supervisors to develop a schedule that fits operational needs.
Additional hours, special events, and occasional travel to other locations in Alaska may be available depending on campaign priorities.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Compensation: Canvassers start at a base rate of $23/HR for administrative and databasing work; $28/HR for in person Door Canvassing and Event Support.
General Duties
  • Encourage participation in elections, legislative advocacy, and candidate support efforts
  • Engage with the public through door-to-door canvassing, phone outreach, and community events for the majority of your work schedule
  • Staff events and help mobilize volunteers to support campaigns and candidates
  • Encourage active public involvement in advocacy and civic engagement campaigns
  • Record accurate data and work with supervisors and teammates to ensure high-quality data entry and reporting
  • Follow procedures and policies outlined in The Mobilization Center Employee Manual and Employee Handbook
  • Ensure confidentiality and professionalism are maintained at all times
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Juneau Field Manager or the Mobilization Center Chief Operations Officer
