Job description

The Temporary Accounting Specialist supports the Accounting Department through project work and daily operations. This position provides hands-on experience in a variety of accounting functions, including data entry, financial and statistical analysis, account reconciliations, budgeting, accounts payable and accounts receivable support, financial reporting, and other general accounting activities.

Essential Responsibilities and Desired Outcomes

  • Assist with departmental projects and daily accounting operations, ensuring work is completed accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Assist in maintaining and reconciling the General Ledger.
  • Support the processing and reconciliation of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to ensure timely collections and payments.
  • Assist in preparing schedules and supporting documentation for annual audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with the preparation and analysis of operating budgets and financial forecasts to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Enter and maintain financial information in accounting systems and other software applications while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
Education/Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and general business practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with financial and sensitive information.
  • Ability to successfully complete Wisconsin Caregiver Background Checks, including Department of Justice Criminal Record Checks and any required background checks from previous states of residence.
