Overview
The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for the planning, executing and evaluating the total Respiratory Care of assigned patients. The Respiratory Care Practitioner utilizes current evidenced based Respiratory Care Practice to care for each patient based on the physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Works under the direction of the leadership team to provided respiratory services associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans. Responsible for assuring safe practices as referenced in the National Patient Safety Goals, and supports best practices as recommended by the American Association of Respiratory Care.
What you will do
  • Responsible for assessing, diagnosing, implementing, and evaluating the treatment and procedures that contribute to the Respiratory Care Plan.
  • Completes all documentation and assures all orders are current, completed or discontinued.
  • Participates and assists in meetings, projects and in-services relative to improvement of RHS Respiratory Care Services.
  • Utilizes proper infection control techniques in performance of duties and in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Works with physicians and nurses to create treatment plans. Evaluates progress of the treatment.

Qualifications
Education
  • Associates Degree, Respiratory Therapy or Related Field (Required) or
  • Bachelors Degree, Respiratory Therapy or Related Field (Preferred)

Experience
  • 2 years Respiratory Therapy experience (Required)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) RCP license from the Virginia Department of Health Professions Upon Hire(Required) and
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Upon Hire(Required) and
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required) and
  • ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
