Job Requirements

Job Summary

Under general direction, ensures the efficient operation of the department and supervises administrative support staff. Responsible for procedural operating decisions based on independent judgment and knowledge of applicable departmental policies and procedures. Directly supervises two or more administrative staff.

Primary Responsibilities

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed.

·Performs all supervisory duties, including hiring qualified personnel, evaluating work performance, performing corrective actions, preparing work schedules to meet the operational needs, developing and assigning work tasks to maximize productivity, developing and implementing training and continuing education programs and performance appraisals.

· Assists the administrative director and/or laboratory manager with the preparation and management of the operating and capital expenditure budget. Identifies and addresses all variances.

· Compiles, analyzes, and/or verifies complex statistical data and reports, investigates, and resolves issues.

· Participates in process improvement initiatives.

· Drafts and revises departmental standard operating procedures.

· Plans and organizes the anatomical pathology medical director's daily activities.

· Assists in the preparation and processing of documentation for faculty positions and credentialing. Prepares the quarterly service schedule for faculty in coordination with the anatomical pathology medical      director.

· Prepares the quarterly anatomical pathology quality assurance (QA) report.

· Takes and transcribes meeting minutes, letters and reports.

· Handles all legal and risk management requests for anatomic pathology material, including billing and receipt of payment.

· Performs all other duties as assigned.


Work Experience

Education & Experience - Required

· Associate's degree in business management/administration or related field required

· One (1) year of supervisory experience is required

Education & Experience - Preferred

· Bachelor's degree in business or health care administration preferred.

· Five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative/secretarial experience in a medical setting, preferred.
