We are seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our medical observation unit, who will provide exceptional care for our oncology patients requiring short-term hospitalization, ongoing assessment, symptom management, and treatment.

Hours: 3 12-hour shifts and some weekends

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate expertise in:

  • Caring for patients with a variety of acute medical conditions.

  • Effective communication skills with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.

  • Proficiency in admission, discharge processes, and patient education.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster trust and rapport.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform comprehensive assessments and ongoing monitoring of patients requiring observation and short-term medical management.
  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, escalating care as appropriate.
  • Manage common oncology related complications including pain, nausea/vomiting, dehydration, fever, electrolyte imbalances, anemia, neutropenia, and treatment related side effects.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on symptom management, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacy, case management, social work, nutrition, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate documentation while adhering to quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Foster a culture of compassion, teamwork, and excellence while providing high-quality, patient centered care.

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science of Nursing
  • In lieu of Bachelors, an Associate's degree in Nursing plus 1 year of relevant experience may be considered
  • Registered Nurse (RN) RN-Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of FL, or a valid Multi-State privilege to practice in FL (must declare FL as primary State of residence within 60 days from date of hire if licensed in another eNLC compact state with multi-state privileges)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • The Registered Nurse delivers individualized quality nursing care to cancer patients and families in accordance with established hospital guidelines, nursing professional practice model, nursing care standards and policies and in accordance with ANA code of ethics and external regulatory agencies.

  • Registered Nurses use the nursing process to effectively plan and manage quality patient care. Biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational and discharge planning needs are addressed in all steps of the nursing process. This is demonstrated in base-line and comparative documentation, entered in a timely manner, and with evidence of age-appropriate consideration when care is planned, delivered, and evaluated.

Salary Range

$36.63 - $54.93
