Temporary 1099 Contractor information

What is a temporary 1099 contractor?

A Temporary 1099 Contractor is an independent worker who is hired for a specific project or period of time and is paid as a non-employee. Unlike regular employees, temporary 1099 contractors are responsible for their own taxes and do not receive benefits like health insurance or paid leave. They typically sign an agreement for a set duration or task and are issued a 1099 form at the end of the year that reports their earnings. This arrangement offers more flexibility for both the contractor and the hiring company.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a temporary 1099 contractor?

To thrive as a Temporary 1099 Contractor, you need strong expertise in your specialized field, a solid track record of independent work, and a clear understanding of tax and contract obligations. Familiarity with invoicing software, project management tools, and basic accounting systems is important for managing tasks and finances. Excellent self-motivation, time management, and client communication skills help you build trust and deliver results on tight deadlines. These skills are essential for maintaining compliance, ensuring client satisfaction, and sustaining a successful independent contracting business.

What are common challenges faced by temporary 1099 contractors, and how can they be addressed?

Temporary 1099 Contractors often encounter challenges such as managing inconsistent workloads, handling their own taxes, and navigating limited access to company resources or benefits. To address these, it's important for contractors to maintain clear communication with clients about project expectations and timelines, keep thorough records for tax purposes, and proactively seek out professional networks or resources for support. Many contractors also invest in accounting tools and consult with tax professionals to streamline financial management. Developing strong organizational skills and staying adaptable can help make the transition between projects smoother.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

We are seeking a fractional marketer to hit the ground running across digital marketing execution. With the part-time, temporary nature of this role, the focus is stabilization, not process-building. • Maintain CRM hygiene (HubSpot/Salesforce) and process weekly performance data pulls
  • Execute email campaigns in HubSpot
  • Light graphic design using Canva
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the marketing operating rhythm
Scope note — what this role does not need to do
  • Build new systems, SOPs, or process documentation from scratch
  • Own strategic decisions on channel mix, campaign strategy, or budget reallocation
  • Take on brand or technical web work outside existing platforms
  • Manage cross-functional communications (Finance/POs, PD, BD interface)
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Immediately comfortable in HubSpot, Salesforce, Canva, WordPress, and Asana
  • Demonstrated ability to pick up an existing calendar/process and run it without a lengthy handoff
  • Working knowledge of digital campaign management basics including website content updates, social media scheduling, email and basic content QA
  • Comfortable with a short runway to productivity
KEY CHARACTER TRAITS:
  • Self-starting and low-maintenance to onboard
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Calm under a compressed timeline
  • Collaborative and communicative about status and blockers
  • Adaptable to a short-term, clearly-scoped engagement
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • 2+ years in a marketing coordinator, marketing operations, or agency-side account coordinator role
  • 2+ years in Beauty, Wellness, or Fashion industries
  • Fractional, freelance, or agency marketing background is a plus, not a requirement
  • Available to start within 1-2 weeks
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
