Summary
The Solutions Architect is Temporal's primary customer-facing technical leader within the Majors team (East). In this crucial role, you'll work directly with prospects and customers, guiding them in understanding the suitability of their applications for Temporal's platform and showcasing the technical advantages of our cloud service. Your contribution is vital in positioning Temporal against alternative technologies, helping customer engineering teams expand production applications using Temporal, and owning the technical relationship with key decision-makers. Your role is integral to our success.
What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with prospects to determine if their applications fit Temporal's platform well.
  • Educate customers and prospects on the technical benefits and limitations of Temporal's platform and cloud service.
  • Position Temporal as an enterprise development standard against competing technologies and architectural patterns.
  • Foster an environment within customer engineering organizations to increase the adoption and expansion of Temporal in production environments.
  • Partner closely with Account Executives to develop and execute comprehensive account plans across both new opportunities and expansion, accounting for the customer's long-term success and outcome.
  • Manage and nurture relationships with technical decision-makers within customer organizations, ensuring they fully leverage Temporal's capabilities.
  • Create reusable technical assets, reference architectures, playbooks, and demos that provides value for other Solution Architects.
  • Travel expected to be 25-50%

What You'll Bring
  • Reside within the Eastern time zone (United States)
  • Exceptional technical communication skills across altitudes, from a staff-level engineer whiteboard to a platform-team enablement session to a VP/CTO narrative.
  • Deep understanding of distributed system technologies, design principles, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in building application prototypes and providing design, development, build, and deployment guidance using one or more of Temporal's supported languages: Java, Golang, Python, C#, TypeScript, Ruby, or Rust.
  • Firm grasp of operational considerations in production environments, such as security, reliability, performance, cost management, and operations.
  • Ability to provide insightful advice on architectural topics, including application patterns and platform architectures.
  • Experience with at least one major cloud provider and familiarity with commonly used application development and production services.
  • Ability to serve as a strategic technical advisor to Sales Account Executives, assisting with scoping and sizing opportunities and offering guidance on technical fit and challenges.
