As a LONG Controls Technicianย Leadย with extensive experience, you willย leadย the support for customersย byย overseeingย the troubleshooting and programming of temperature control systems according to project requirements. Leveraging your deep understanding of the commercial HVAC sector, you willย guideย team members on-site, coordinating operations and serving as a link between operations and project managers to ensure the projectโ€™s smooth execution.ย ย

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesย 
To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties or tasks assigned as required.   • Communicate regularly and efficiently with operations managers, project managers, installation supervisors and control technicians via voicemail, cell phone and email regarding scheduling, job concerns, technical matters, and other issues.
  • Provide technical expertise and pre-planning of technical work on challenging or unusual projects by pre-screening the anticipated scope of work and communicating to the project managerโ€™s field supervisor, any specific requirements or advance planning that may be required.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors and project managers regarding system deficiencies and/or customer grievances. Offer direction to relevant building intelligence staff and project managers regarding the status tasks and the completion of assigned duties.
  • Provide technical analysis and recommendations to owners and the project team regarding warranty issues or challenging situations with a customer-focused attitude.
  • Enhance, document, and structure knowledge of technologies and programming skills across all represented manufacturers, collaborating closely with the technical standards, programming, and R&D team.ย 
  • Develop and maintain procedures for the acceptance of completed work (i.e., checkout sheets completed and submitted, and checkout procedures followed).
  • Verify that control technicians provide signed completed checkout documentation (i.e., checkout sheets) to the project manager, on a daily/weekly basis, for inclusion into the project manual.
  • Ensure control technicians supply information for updating drawings and maintain equipment records for as-built documentation (submit all redlined drafting to application engineers.ย 
  • Work well with all business unit managers, project managers, customers, application engineers, sales personnel, service, and control technicians.
  • Assist with the training, supervision, and mentoring of Apprentices and less experienced technicians.
  • Inform customers of LONG service agreement availability while performing start-up, commissioning, and owner training tasks.
  • Instruct owner's personnel and control technicians on operation and maintenance of temperature control systems and energy conservation routines.
  • Work to ensure that LONG is fairly compensated for all work including that performed outside contractual obligations.
  • Always adhere to all safety regulations set by LONG and OSHA.
  • Drive defensively and obey all traffic laws including LONG safe driver policy (avoid all confrontational driving situations).
  • Ensure code compliance for all technical work performed.
  • Other duties as assigned.ย 
Qualifications
  • 2 years of computer/electronic technical degree, 4 years temperature control system start-up, checkout, and service experience preferred. May have 6 years temperature control system start-up, checkout, service experience.
  • Certifications in KMC, Distech, Tridium/Honeywell, and other equivalent systems
  • Ability to legally drive a motor vehicle.
  • Expert programming and troubleshooting skills with KMC, Distech, Tridium/Honeywell, and other equivalent systems.
  • Strong analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Expert knowledge of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures.
  • Ability to handle and lead multiple tasks simultaneously, along with a readiness to take on responsibility and accountability.
  • Experience guiding junior team members on complex tasks and issues taking place at worksites.
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Possess good leadership, communication (written and verbal), and computer skills.
  • Possess good organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to travel to and inspect jobsites and to visit customer locations.โ€ฏ
  • Extensive knowledge of dispatch, job cost, HVAC mechanical and electrical systems, controls, and safety practices.ย 
Preferred Qualificationsย 
  • Knowledge of LONGโ€™s system operations and infrastructure, as it pertains to construction operations and its stakeholders.
  • Completion of the ASP Program.
