Diesel Mechanic
Job Summary
We are seeking a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair trailers, trucks, cranes, and processing equipment in a metal recycling facility. This role is responsible for diagnosing mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, completing safety inspections, and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, cranes, and plant equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and air brake system issues.
- Complete safety inspections and ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Repair diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions, wheel ends, and related components.
- Perform welding and cutting as needed for equipment repairs.
- Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Accurately document repairs and maintenance activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
Qualifications
- Experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or automotive mechanic.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, and preventative maintenance practices.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Welding experience preferred.
- Ability to use basic diagnostic tools, including a volt meter.
- Must provide basic mechanic hand tools.
