Education
• B.S. or M.S. degree in a relevant Biological area (Bacteriology, Biology, Microbiology, Virology)
Experience and Skills
• 1-3 years laboratory experience, preferably in Animal Health/Industry, including mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique, immunological assay platforms (ELISA, serum neutralization), and/or cell-based potency and functional in vitro assays
• Ability to conduct scientific experiments, compile data and interpret results, and communicate with relevant team members and stakeholders
• Detail-oriented with good documentation skills
• Effective written and oral communication skillset
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Preferred Experience and Skills
• Ability to independently design scientific experiments
• Experience working in an R&D or Quality Control laboratory
• Experience developing, executing, and troubleshooting in vitro analytical methods
• Proficient at data compilation, visualization, and interpretation of trends
• Knowledgeable of USDA regulations for veterinary biological products
Job Description
• Participates and collaborates in cross-functional teams with colleagues in Research & Development, Production, Quality Control, and Regulatory Affairs to qualify new reference standards
• Maintains compliance according to USDA guidelines for reference standards and in vitro potency tests
• Prepares and tests small-scale vaccines to support formulation of new reference standards
• Supports the formulation, dispense and testing of new reference standards as part of the reference qualification process
• Assists in the routine maintenance and management of reference standards, including in vitro stability testing
• Conducts clinical sample testing in support of the qualification of new reference standards
• Assists in the preparation of data packages, protocols or reports for submission to USDA
• Provides technical support for approved Quality Control assays
• Supports local, regional, and global program initiatives as assigned
