Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a Level I/II trauma teaching hospital, requiring 4+ years of experience (2+ years considered).

Details

• Work in the Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics unit at a teaching hospital
• 13-week contract assignment
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00)
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Adult critical care and Emergency Department settings
• Care for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomy
• Perform ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Perform airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
• Perform chest physiotherapy, arterial blood gas draws and interpretation
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• RRT certification and BLS required
• ACCS certification preferred
• ACLS certification preferred
• Minimum 4 years of experience required; candidates with 2+ years of experience will be considered
• Epic EMR experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• VA state license required; license required if applicable, pending license accepted if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date
• Must hold another active state license to be eligible for a temporary VA license
• Two professional references required

Additional Information

• Float within scope of practice as needed
• Maximum RTO of 40 hours per 13-week contract, all must be disclosed prior to submission
• Any planned time off between sign date and start date must be disclosed to coordinate an appropriate start date
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or internal/external travelers) require a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
• No radius restriction for this unit
