Job Title: Quality Control Technician
Job Description
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing all operations required to adjust wet properties and to tint a wide variety of liquid coatings in accordance with formula specifications.
Responsibilities
- Determine the type and amount of color and gloss additives required to match product to physical standards.
- Use a spectrophotometer (X-Rite) to obtain color values against stored standards and interpret results.
- Create test panels primarily by hand spraying and inspect panels visually for both color and appearance.
- Collaborate with chemists and supervisors in determining procedures and additives to use on out-of-spec products and update formulas for better color accuracy in future batches.
- Enter final quality results in data management program and use historical data to tint and adjust batches.
- Perform QC lab technician responsibilities such as measuring viscosity, solids, and weight per gallon.
- Physically add tints, flatteners, and other additives directly to tanks.
- Participate in housekeeping procedures, including the disposal of hazardous waste, with proper training provided.
- Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
- Clean up and properly store equipment.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Associate’s or two-year college degree or equivalent.
- Three or more years of experience in batch creation, wet testing, color matching, and paint characteristics in a manufacturing setting.
- Proficient in understanding and analyzing performance metrics to drive QC process improvements.
- Ability to manipulate QC data in Excel and Access databases.
- Excellent color vision and math skills including metric to standard conversions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP systems, and other office machinery.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task.

- Successful candidates must achieve acceptable scores on both the color matching and math assessments.
- Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals.
- Excellent team building and communication skills.
- Ability to receive and provide instructions positively.
Work Environment
1st Shift – Monday-Thursday (8:30 AM-5:30 PM), Friday (7:00 AM-3:30 PM). Work in a manufacturing setting handling paints and coatings with a focus on quality control processes.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
