POSITION SUMMARY:

An Industrial Sewing Machine Operator will assemble, and/or sew pieces or small parts to a component or finished product. The Industrial Sewing Machine Operator is also responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a machine that produces sewn products according to specifications, quality standards, and production goals in a manufacturing environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Operate industrial sewing machines, including single-needle, double-needle, serger, and Merrow machines, to produce high-quality sewn products.
  • Operate a binding machine with precision to ensure secure and durable stitching.
  • Perform minor machine adjustments and troubleshooting as needed to maintain optimal performance.
  • Read and interpret work instructions to ensure accuracy in sewing and adherence to product specifications.
  • Conduct visual inspections of materials before and after sewing to identify defects and ensure all products meet quality standards.
  • Assist with sewing machine setup to support efficient production.
  • Provide training and support to legally blind individuals for increased skill development or new projects, as needed.
  • Assist in evaluating and recommending modifications to machines, related equipment, or assistive technology devices to enhance efficiency and accessibility.
  • Works in accordance with company's quality and safety standards.
  • Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work under general supervision.

JOB REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Experience: Previous experience operating an industrial sewing machine required. Exposure to manufacturing environment preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Basic math skills.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and management.
  • Possess a positive work attitude and a willingness to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to express and share knowledge and ideas in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task.
