Job description

Positions will provide temporary assistance in a variety of areas. Work may include, but is not limited to research, project or program assistance, and grant assistance. Work is completed within 999 hours per a calendar year.,This position is responsible for instructing a variety of fire service programs and courses offered by the Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute (KFRTI). They will serve as the lead instructor, assistant instructor, or safety officer (if qualified) to deliver KFRTI training programs. This position coordinates and collaborates with program coordinators and managers and reports to an assigned training program coordinator or manager.
Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute is a KU Lifelong and Professional Education (LPE) unit. The Institute was created in 1949 by the Kansas legislature with the mission to train and credential Kansas firefighters in local jurisdictions. The Institute serves fire departments and firefighters through a "traveling instruction service," providing hundreds of training and certification events each year in counties across the State.
The mission of the Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute is to provide accessible, comprehensive training and credentialing for fire and emergency response personnel to promote health and safety in Kansas communities
