THE POSITION

On-Call Non-Benefited Postition/ Works as Needed/ No Gaurantee of Hours.
Job Summary:
This position performs a variety of basic, manual tasks and duties needed during events scheduled at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, including, but not limited to, cleaning and restocking restrooms, sweeping, moping, emptying trash containers, picking up litter, preparation and cleanup of grounds and/or temporary site preparation, directing vehicle traffic for parking ingress and egress, collecting parking fees, entry-level office work; and answering general questions from the public.
Essential Functions:
This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, empty trash containers, pick up litter, sweep and/or mop floors, refill toiletry products and other needed supplies;
- Collect trash, secure bags and dispose of garbage bags into proper containers;
- Assist with site or ground preparation, including set-up of various signage, decorative banners, or assisting with event set-up and/or tear-down of related equipment;
- Pick up litter throughout assigned areas;
- Safely direct vehicle traffic to assigned parking areas and vehicle exits;
- Set up and maintain placement of traffic control equipment;
- Collect appropriate parking fees, vouchers, or coupons and provide correct change;
- Answer telephones, unpack supplies, file information alphanumerically and/or according to specialized systems, maintain routine record logs, routine typing of labels or forms, operate office equipment;
- Courteously respond to public inquiries for assistance in locating guest services, restrooms, parking areas, etc.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required, will be considered. however, the following is preferred:
- Any combination of coursework, experience and/or training which provides required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the assigned position.
Knowledge of: Basic knowledge of assigned working environment (i.e., cleaning and/or janitorial methods and supplies; approved vehicle parking safety standards, and/or general office skills).
Skill and ability to: Communicate effectively, understand and follow oral and written instructions and to work within approved safety standards of the department, including but not limited to, vehicle traffic for parking ingress and egress, appropriate use of cleaning and disinfecting products, using general office equipment, and use of appropriate protective wear (i.e., gloves, safety vests, etc).

- At time of appointment, must possess valid Oregon drivers license
- Regular and consistent attendance

This position works on-call, as needed with no General County benefits. Position not eligible for vacation accrual,
**sick leave accrual, holidays or any other General County benefit afforded to a position budgeted to work 20 hours or more per week.
Part-time employees budgeted less than .50, and temporary employees, shall be front loaded up to a maximum of 40 hours of annual sick leave, that may be used for qualifying reasons as set forth in Oregon's Sick Leave Law as amended from time to time. Front loaded sick leave may be pro-rated in the manner described in this rule (). Sick leave hours do not accrue or carry forward from one year to the next. For the purpose of this provision of the sick leave rule, a "year" is the Fiscal Year from July 1 to June 30. Once the Fiscal Year has started, newly hired part-time/on-call/temporary employees shall not be eligible to use sick leave until their 91st day of employment, unless otherwise required by law.
