Registered Nurse

Adelphi is seeking a temporary Registered Nurses (RNs) with a possibility for permanent hire to provide direct care for students in a public charter school serving grades K3 in Ridgeland, SC.

Requirements:

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a current South Carolina license required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in pediatric, school, or community health nursing.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (with trainer certification preferred)

Responsibilities: Student Health & Medical Services

  • Provide direct care for students with illness or injury during the school day.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments, ensuring proper documentation, storage, and parental consent in compliance with FERPA and
  • Maintain accurate student health records, including immunization and physician documentation.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and make timely decisions to ensure student safety. Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with South Carolina DHEC health regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Submit annual health and immunization compliance reports.
  • Maintain records for all students, including screenings and follow-up on referrals.
  • Report communicable diseases (e.g., measles, flu) promptly and implement control measures. Incident Management & Family Communication
  • Develop emergency action plans for students with specific health needs and train staff accordingly.
  • Document and report student health incidents and injuries to families and relevant parties.
  • Coordinate communication with families regarding medications, allergies, and care plan updates. Allergen & Dietary Collaboration
  • Work with Nutrition Services to accommodate students with food allergies and dietary restrictions.
  • Maintain systems to identify and monitor students with special dietary needs during meals and events. Health Screenings & Examinations
  • Verify student immunization compliance and submit required reports to DHEC.
  • Conduct screenings (vision, hearing, dental, scoliosis) and follow up with families as needed.
  • Assist with referrals and documentation for further medical or developmental evaluations. Skills & Characteristics
  • Strong knowledge of child/adolescent health, chronic illness, and emergency response.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with families, staff, and agencies.
