Are you ready to be at the heart of operational excellence, ensuring a seamless and intuitive experience for users of cutting-edge autonomous technology? We are looking for a highly skilled and passionate Fleet Support Engineer to become a pivotal member of a dynamic team, directly impacting the reliability and performance of critical human-machine interface and passenger experience systems. In this role, you will be the technical expert driving fleet uptime, diagnosing complex issues, and contributing to the continuous improvement of systems that directly shape the passenger experience. Your expertise will not only resolve immediate challenges but also help inform future system design and reliability improvements.
This is an onsite contract position located in Foster City, California, requiring five days per week in the office.
What You'll Do:
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for real-time escalations concerning human-machine interface systems, including passenger displays, audio and visual alerts, interior cameras, and cabin interaction modules.
  • Conduct in-depth root cause analysis through comprehensive Linux and Android log review, electrical diagnosis, and system-level troubleshooting to identify and resolve complex HMI hardware and software failures.
  • Lead sustaining engineering efforts for HMI systems by analyzing historical fleet data to identify failure trends, including ghost-touch issues, display blackouts, and audio latency, and drive permanent corrective actions.
  • Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive troubleshooting guides for HMI components, empowering field technicians to resolve issues independently.
  • Perform hardware bring-up and functional validation for new HMI components, software releases, and firmware updates.
  • Collaborate with HMI and software engineering teams to enhance diagnostic tooling and improve the detection of specific failure modes in the field.

  • Support critical fleet operations during night and weekend shifts as needed.
  • Travel occasionally within the United States to support various operational locations.

Must-Have Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in automotive, consumer electronics, or autonomous vehicles, with a focus on infotainment, display technologies, or cockpit electronics.

  • Experience troubleshooting LVDS, Ethernet, CAN, and LIN communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with display technologies, including LCD and OLED systems, touch controllers, and audio amplifiers.
  • Ability to comprehend schematics, electrical diagrams, connector end views, and pinouts to distinguish wiring failures from component failures.
  • Strong understanding of hardware and software interaction, including how an operating system drives display and infotainment functionality, with the ability to differentiate software bugs from hardware failures.
  • A holistic problem-solving approach to identifying issues with high-level vehicle functions and driving resolution down to individual components.
  • Self-starter with the ability to build strong working relationships across engineering and operations teams.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
  • Experience with Android Automotive or Linux-based infotainment systems.
  • Experience remotely supporting vehicle troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of vehicle systems and Unified Diagnostic Services.
  • Experience using Linux and Python to parse and analyze large log files.
  • Familiarity with networking, TCP, and socket programming.
  • Experience with audio system tuning or debugging.
