RN – Cardiac Cath Lab (Interventional Platform)

Location: 1425 N Randall Rd, Elgin, IL 60123 Openings: 3 Job Type: Contract | Standard Rate Assignment Dates: January 19 – April 18, 2026

Pay & Schedule
  • Hours: 40 hours/week

  • Shift: 8-hour Day Shift

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday

  • On-Call: Required

    • ~10 on-call days per month

    • On call from 3:30 PM – 7:00 AM

    • Minimum 1 call weekend per month

  • Holidays: None required (Jan–Mar)

About the Facility

Well-established interventional program serving the Northern Illinois region. The Interventional Platform supports high-acuity cardiac and vascular procedures with strong physician collaboration and experienced clinical leadership.

Job Summary

The Cath Lab RN will support diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, providing direct patient care, monitoring hemodynamics, administering medications, and responding to emergent situations. This role requires a strong technical skill set, comfort with complex devices, and prior on-call experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures

  • Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data throughout procedures

  • Administer conscious sedation and medications per protocol

  • Operate and manage cath lab equipment and devices

  • Maintain sterile fields and adhere to infection control standards

  • Respond quickly to patient condition changes and emergencies

  • Complete accurate and timely documentation in EPIC

  • Participate in rotating on-call coverage for emergent cases

  • Collaborate with Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology teams

Patient & Procedure Types
  • Cardiac catheterizations

Required Experience & Skills
  • Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab RN experience

  • Strong hemodynamics experience

  • Experience with:

    • AAA cases

    • IABP

    • Temporary pacemakers

    • Impella

    • IVUS

  • Conscious sedation administration

  • EPIC documentation experience

  • Prior on-call experience

Licensure & Certifications
  • Active RN license (IL or Compact)

  • BLS and ACLS (current)

Nice to Have
  • 2+ years of Interventional Radiology experience

Floating Requirements
  • Must be willing to float to Interventional Radiology as needed

  • Cardiology physicians and interventional specialists

  • Experienced Cath Lab leadership and nursing administration
