Job description

Position Information EXAMINATION SCHEDULE: Oral Exam: qualified candidates will be notified of the oral examination date 5 days prior to the examination. Examination: Oral Exam (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of appraising training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position. The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant an oral exam.

Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process. Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards One (1) year of experience in a position equivalent to a Public Health Nurse II in a public health or community health setting. OR Four (4) years of nursing experience, with at least one (1) year in a lead capacity.

AND Possession of a valid and unrestricted Public Health Nurse Certificate issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Registered Nursing. Possession of a valid and unrestricted California Registered Nurse license issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Board Of Registered Nursing Possess and maintain a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card. Failure to maintain a valid Registered Nurse License issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Registered Nursing will result in termination.

Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Driver's License is required upon appointment. Please ensure applicable materials are attached to your application. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
