Job description

Occupational Therapist (Full-Time FMLA Coverage)

Location: Grayslake-Gurnee, IL
School Setting: High School / Specialized Program
Grade Levels: K-12 (placement open based on program needs)
Assignment Dates: October 15, 2026 - February 2027
Potential Extension: Another FMLA leave may immediately follow, with the potential to extend through the end of the school year
Schedule: 8:00 AM-3:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch
Hours: 35 hours per week
Setting: Onsite
Pay Rate: $48-$60 per hour

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a full-time Occupational Therapist to provide FMLA coverage within the Language and Social Skills Opportunities program. This is a unique opportunity to work with students in a highly individualized and supportive environment designed for students with significant autism-related learning needs.

There is also the possibility that a second FMLA assignment could immediately follow this role, potentially extending the opportunity through the end of the school year.

About the Program

The Language and Social Skills Opportunities program serves students in grades K-12 who require supports commonly associated with autism spectrum learning needs.

Students benefit from a highly individualized, structured, and supportive environment designed to address significant:

  • Language and communication needs

  • Sensory needs

  • Functional and developmental needs

  • Social and self-regulation skills

The program emphasizes individualized support and helping students build the skills needed for greater independence and success.

Position Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapist will:

  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students with a variety of developmental and functional needs.

  • Support sensory processing, fine motor, visual-motor, self-regulation, and functional skills.

  • Conduct evaluations and develop individualized intervention recommendations.

  • Develop and support OT-related IEP goals.

  • Collaborate closely with teachers, families, and related service providers.

  • Support students within structured and individualized educational environments.

  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and monitor student progress.

Qualifications
  • Active Illinois Occupational Therapist License through IDFPR required.

  • Experience supporting students with autism and significant sensory or communication needs is preferred.

  • School-based experience is preferred but not required.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
