Job description

Acden Base Operators Firebag team is growing!

Heavy Duty Mechanic EVT

**This is a fly in fly out opportunity located in Fort Mackay at the Firebag River Airport**

Primary focus

Responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining emergency vehicles, heavy equipment, and Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) trucks. Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and diesel engine systems. Experience with Work Order Systems to document repairs, track maintenance schedules and maintain accurate service records. Must be able to work closely with vendors and suppliers to source parts, coordinate repairs and manage warranties.

  • Performs physically demanding duties such as heavy lifting, working underneath trucks, working in cramped or awkward positions, climbing on/off units & trailers, getting in/out of units, working long hours if required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on light vehicles, Heavy Trucks and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair critical equipment required for airport operations
  • Minor modification and small projects as required
  • Interprets technical manuals, work orders, and writes service reports.
  • Secondary duties, as required, may include but not limited to: conducting environmental, safety and quality checks, general housekeeping in support of a healthy and safe workplace and taking proactive and corrective measures in these areas.
  • Responds to site preservation emergencies and environmental emergencies, other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification
  • Class 1 or Class 3 with Q endorsement would be an asset

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Proficient knowledge and understanding of:

  • Diagnosing electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Service truck/Field experience would be an asset
  • Must be organized, and have basic computer skills
  • Must be able to work with little supervision.
  • Must be positive, safety focused, and demonstrate a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes
  • Must have strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be familiar safety regulations and safe work practices.
  • Must be able to work a modified work schedule
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Must be willing and able to travel.
