Job description

Job Title: CNC Machine OperatorJob Description

The CNC Machine Operator sets up and operates CNC machinery to produce precision parts according to blueprints and job orders. This role ensures parts meet exact specifications, supports quality control processes, and maintains equipment in a safe and efficient machine shop environment.

Responsibilities
  • Read and complete machine setup sheets to understand production requirements and tooling needs.
  • Set up CNC machines for production, including loading tooling, adjusting offsets, and preparing materials.
  • Assist in developing and following quality control plan details to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Follow first-piece inspection procedures to validate machine setup and part accuracy before full production.
  • Acquire and stage parts and materials to be machined according to job orders and production schedules.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and tooling instructions to determine machining requirements.
  • Machine parts to required specifications using CNC equipment, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Inspect machined parts using measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Move completed parts to designated areas, maintaining organized material flow throughout the shop.
  • Monitor tooling condition during production and replace worn tooling as needed to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Remove and return tooling to the appropriate storage locations when jobs are complete.
  • Suggest improved machining methods and process adjustments to increase job efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Work in compliance with OSHA and ISO standards, following all safety and quality procedures.
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance duties on machines, including cleaning, basic inspections, and minor adjustments.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of hands-on CNC machining or CNC operator experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job orders for production requirements.
  • Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC machines for production runs.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to inspect parts.
  • Capability to follow first-piece inspection procedures and quality control plans.
  • Knowledge of tooling usage, replacement, and care in a CNC machining environment.
  • Familiarity with working under OSHA and ISO standards and following safety procedures.
  • Stable work history, including at least 2+ years of tenure at each previous company.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience suggesting and implementing machining method improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Background performing daily preventive maintenance on CNC machines.
  • Prior exposure to machine shop environments and production workflows.
  • Setup experience is not required but is considered a strong plus.
  • Comfort reading and following detailed tooling instructions.

Work Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
