Job description

The ARA Better Fuels Group (BFG) is seeking a temporary engineering aide to provide technical and operational support to engineers on a variety of routine technical tasks.

Under general supervision, the engineering aide gathers, maintains, formats, compiles and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Records data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

This is a full-time position; typical 8-hour shifts with occasional 12-hour shifts, days and/or nights, depending on project requirements. Overtime available as required.

Essential functions:

  • Maintains necessary pilot plant documentation and logbooks.
  • Maintains and operates pilot plant equipment in a safe, precise, and accurate fashion.
  • Accurately compiles data to summarize experimental results.
  • Carries out all assigned tasks in an exemplary professional manner.

Experience and skills required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of related experience
  • Mechanically inclined and have experience setting up, operating, and maintaining several types of equipment
  • Good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate, including MS Word, Excel, and other related computer skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and move drums

Experience and skills preferred:

  • Experience working in a lab or pilot plant environment
  • Experience working with high temperature and high pressure systems
  • Experience with LabView
  • Experience working with compression fittings
