Basic Function/Definition
In collaboration with the local communities, the Rio Hondo Math Academy provides an exceptional academic curriculum to meet the unique needs of our region and strengthen our communities.
The mission of the Rio Hondo Math Academy is to provide a supportive, equitable, and engaging environment that fosters appreciation of mathematics and skills development to prepare middle and high school students for higher college level math courses, such as AP Calculus and AP Statistics. We are looking for dynamic and highly qualified mathematics instructors to help us accomplish this mission.
This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or divisions will refer to the pool of applicants on file to fill temporary assignments as needed. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department or division be interested in scheduling an interview.
Essential Duties
Levels: Foundations of Algebra - Pre-Calculus
Assignment may include teaching courses as assigned during day and evening hours.
Have a commitment to professional excellence and continuous growth in the fields of teaching.
Other professional responsibilities and activities normally expected of members of community college faculty as described by Board Policies and the California Education code.
Knowledge and Abilities Minimum Qualifications/Education and Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or higher.
OR
A valid California Community College Credential authorizing service in the appropriate subject matter
AND
Demonstrate a sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
OR the equivalent.
Equivalencies
1.BA/BS in any interdisciplinary studies.
2. California single subject credential in Math.
3. 3 years of experience teaching Math.
Foreign Degrees

Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts.
