Job description

*This position requires an Active Secret Clearance for consideration* Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a Sr. RHEL Engineer to support a United States Air Force (USAF) program based in Chantilly, Virginia . This position is a full-time role that will be fully onsite . This position is critical in safeguarding enterprise systems and ensuring compliance with stringent Department of Defense security standards. As a Sr. RHEL Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in secure system configuration, STIG compliance validation, and large-scale enterprise endpoint management within a high-stakes environment supporting approximately 50,000 global endpoints. Key Responsibilities: * Configure systems in accordance with DISA STIG requirements and ensure enterprise-wide compliance. * Validate, assess, and report STIG compliance across systems using tools such as SteelCloud ConfigOS. * Administer and maintain applications in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. * Develop, maintain, and debug shell scripts to support application and system management. * Support large-scale endpoint deployments and compliance efforts across global environments. * Manage and evaluate web servers, application servers, containerized applications, and database systems to ensure secure configurations without disrupting services. * Work within virtualized and cloud environments including Hyper-V and Microsoft Azure. * Support and maintain Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) components. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure operational success and compliance. * Communicate effectively (written and verbal) in a mission-driven environment. Requirements: * Active SECRET security clearance
* 10+ years of relevant experience (Bachelor's degree may substitute for 5 years of experience) * Strong expertise in RHEL system administration and application support * Deep knowledge of DISA STIG implementation, validation, and troubleshooting * Experience with enterprise tools such as SteelCloud ConfigOS * Proficiency with scripting (e.g., Bash, Shell scripting) * Working knowledge of cloud and virtual platforms (Azure, Hyper-V) * Understanding of PKI concepts and implementation Desired Qualifications: * DoD 8140 compliant certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+) * CISSP, CISM, or other advanced cybersecurity certifications * Experience with ServiceNow workflows and automation * Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory / Entra ID * Experience creating dashboards in Microsoft Power BI * Familiarity with NIST frameworks and other compliance standards * Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills * Ability to operate in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment * Commitment to staying up to date with emerging cybersecurity trends and tools Compensation to include: * Salary Range: $140,000 - $145,000 **depending on experience** * Full Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Sick Leave if Required by Law This job opens for applications on 7/5/2026.
