Job description


The Adel DeSoto Minburn Community School District is seeking a highly motivated, quality applicant as our 8th Grade Baseball Coach for the Summer of 2026.
ADM competes in the highly competitive Raccoon River Conference. ADM is a growing school district in central Iowa. We have excellent facilities and strong athletic programs. ADM has tremendous community support for their athletic programs. Our coaching staff works great together and encourages student-athletes to be involved in multiple sports and activities. We are looking for a candidate to continue to build on the current program's success.
Essential Functions: 
Player Development






  • Teach fundamental baseball skills (hitting, pitching, fielding, base running, and throwing).
  • Conduct structured and engaging practices with drills tailored to skill levels.
  • Emphasize proper mechanics to prevent injuries and ensure long-term growth.
  • Develop game strategies appropriate for middle school competition.
  • Encourage a positive attitude, discipline, and resilience.
  • Inspire players to work hard, improve, and enjoy the game.
  • Build team camaraderie and emphasize sportsmanship.

Operations

  • Follow Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA),  Department of Education and ADM District Board policies, regulations and procedures.
  • Manage game day preparations, including game plans, player rotations, and decision-making during games. Aim for success on the field.
  • Ensure each athlete completes required eligibility paperwork.
  • Understand, support, explain and implement the Good Conduct Policy, Academic Eligibility Policy, and Daily Attendance Policy.
  • Oversee team logistics, including equipment management, completing transportation requests and reserving facilities.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Principal, Athletic Director, or other appropriate administrator.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • Valid State of Iowa Coaching Authorization.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work well with staff, parents, and students
