Commercial Gate & Access Control Technician
Pacoima, CA (San Fernando Valley) | Full-Time

$28 - $35/hr DOE + medical/dental/vision, and 401(k) with 4% match. AM/PM Door & Gate is hiring an experienced gate technician to service commercial automatic gates, gate operators, and access control systems across Los Angeles County.

AM/PM Door & Gate has kept Los Angeles properties secure since 1986. From our Pacoima shop, we provide 24/7 gate, door, and access control service to property management companies, HOAs, apartment communities, industrial facilities, and commercial sites across the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita, Ventura County, and greater LA.

The Role
You'll run a daily route of service calls and preventive maintenance. You diagnose it, fix it right the first time, and make sure the customer knows exactly what was done and what the system needs next.

What You'll Do

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial doors, gates, and operators (sliding, swinging, and overhead).
  • Service and replace access control components, keypads, card readers, and intercom systems.
  • Work with automatic door and gate systems, including safety sensors, loop detectors, and control panels.
  • Perform replacements and retrofits for doors, gates, and operators as needed.
  • Conduct heavy lifting, precise alignment, and secure mounting during installations or repairs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics for proper setup.
  • Fabricate, weld, or modify components for custom fits and repairs.
  • Ensure all work meets safety codes and company quality standards.
  • Provide clear communication and excellent customer service when working on-site.

What You Bring

  • 2+ years servicing commercial or multifamily automatic gate operators
  • Hands-on experience with  major operator brands
  • Working knowledge of low-voltage controls, operator wiring, and wiring diagrams; confident with a multimeter
  • Understanding of UL 325 entrapment protection requirements
  • Ability to work independently on a one-man truck and manage a daily route
  • Ability to lift [75] lbs and work outdoors in all conditions

Nice to Have

  • MIG or stick welding experience
  • AFA Certified Gate Automation Technician (CGAT) or factory training from DoorKing, LiftMaster, or HySecurity
  • Commercial door or storefront hardware experience
  • Experience with cloud-based telephone entry and access control platforms
  • OSHA 10
