Job description

Controller: Department: Finance / Accounting
Location: Parkersburg, WV Area Office / Hybrid
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt (Salaried)
Compensation: $100,000$115,000 base + performance bonus (Target total compensation: $110,000$132,000)
Mancan Staffing is assisting a local client in their search for an experienced Controller to lead their accounting and finance operations. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the full accounting cycle, financial reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on financial professional with strong technical accounting skills, leadership experience, and the ability to provide valuable financial insight to company ownership and leadership. This role will play an important part in supporting continued growth by improving processes, strengthening internal controls, and providing accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards
Manage job costing and project accounting, including work-in-progress (WIP) and percentage-of-completion reporting
Oversee project invoicing, progress billing, and recurring revenue accounting
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management efforts
Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
Coordinate tax compliance with outside accountants, auditors, and tax professionals
Provide financial analysis, KPIs, and reporting to support business decisions
Manage banking, credit, and financial relationships as needed
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff
Partner with operations and project teams on cost tracking, profitability analysis, and financial planning
Qualifications
Required:
Active CPA license
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller, Assistant Controller, or accounting management experience
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience with job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting
Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
High level of integrity and attention to detail
Preferred:
Experience in construction, security integration, low-voltage, or other project-based industries
Experience with recurring revenue accounting
Familiarity with ERP or PSA platforms
Experience managing banking, bonding, or lender relationships
CMA or additional professional certifications
