Job description

Our client, a global leader in bioethanol, biofuels, and biochemical process technologies, is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design efforts for process technology projects from concept through startup.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical engineering function (approximately 20% leadership, 80% hands-on design)
  • Develop piping specifications, mechanical standards, and engineering design packages
  • Create and review 2D/3D designs using AutoCAD Plant 3D
  • Interpret and update PFDs, P&IDs, and plant layout drawings
  • Review vendor drawings, fabrication packages, and equipment specifications
  • Perform hydraulic calculations, pump sizing, and rotating equipment selection
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams
  • Ensure designs comply with ASME, API, ASTM, TEMA, and NFPA standards


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 10+ years of mechanical design experience in process manufacturing, chemical, or biofuels industries
  • Strong experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D and P&ID development
  • Expertise in hydraulics, pump sizing, and rotating equipment
  • Experience executing capital projects, plant modifications, or equipment procurement
  • Familiarity with Navisworks, Bluebeam, Fisher Spec Manager, pump sizing software (Goulds/Sulzer), and Microsoft Excel/VBA is a plus
