Job description

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse - Cardiac Tele is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing interventional cardiac procedures and telemetry monitoring. This role involves managing complex cardiac cases, including pre- and post-procedure care, interpreting dysrhythmias, administering medications and blood products, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. The nurse must have strong IV skills, experience with sheath removal, and expertise in cardiac telemetry to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing care for interventional cardiac patients before, during, and after procedures such as angiograms, cardioversion, PCI, TAVR, and structural heart interventions.
  • Interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias accurately and manage accordingly.
  • Administer medications including heparin and insulin, as well as blood and blood products safely.
  • Perform sheath removal and manage epicardial pacers and telemetry devices.
  • Monitor and manage stable drips and provide procedural sedation as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Float to similar units as needed, demonstrating flexibility in assignments.
  • Document patient care and clinical observations accurately in electronic medical records.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice, including compact license acceptance.
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, specifically with interventional cardiac patients.
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
  • Strong IV skills and experience with sheath removal.
  • Proficient in cardiac telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
  • Experience with blood/blood product administration and procedural sedation.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced cardiac procedure environment.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience with EP patients including ablation, lead placement, and pacer management.
  • Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system.
  • Experience with TEE and cardioversion procedures.
  • Previous work with structural heart procedure patients (e.g., Mitral Clip, TAVR).
Special Considerations:
  • Floating to like units is required; flexibility is essential.
  • No weekend, holiday, or on-call shifts.
  • Travel contract eligibility for candidates separated from other providence facilities for at least 3 months; local candidates accepted.
  • Unit does not accept first-time travelers.
  • Patient ratio approximately 1 nurse to 3 patients.
Scheduling:
  • Day shift schedule with no weekends or holidays.
  • Shifts assigned based on unit needs and floating requirements.
