ABOUT THE ROLE

The Telematics Analyst supports the Fleet organization by turning telematics data into actionable insights that improve fleet performance, utilization, and cost efficiency. This is a dedicated telematics role focused on analyzing data, building reporting, and identifying opportunities to improve how we operate. This position reports to the Telematics Manager within the Fleet organization.

Essential Functions

  • Telematics Data Analysis
    • Analyze data from telematics platforms such as Geotab, dash cameras, and OEM integrations
    • Utilize and analyze data across multiple telematics, OEM, and internal systems to develop complete operational insights
    • Identify trends in driver behavior, asset utilization, idle time, and equipment performance
    • Translate data into clear, practical insights that can be acted on by Fleet and Operations
    • Proactively identify opportunities and trends, not just respond to reporting requests
  • Reporting and Dashboard Development
    • Develop and maintain recurring Fleet reports (weekly and monthly)
    • Build dashboards using Excel, Power BI, and similar tools
    • Standardize reporting across districts to improve consistency and accuracy
    • Support enterprise-level reporting initiatives with clear, accurate, and actionable fleet data
    • Support leadership reporting with clear, simple visuals that drive decisions
  • Fleet Performance and Cost Insights
    • Identify opportunities to improve fleet utilization, fuel efficiency, and equipment uptime
    • Support analysis of telematics-related costs including hardware, data plans, and installations
    • Assist in developing data-backed insights to support fleet decisions and investments
  • Data Quality and System Support
    • Monitor telematics data quality and system health
    • Identify gaps such as missing or underperforming devices
    • Support ongoing improvements to telematics systems and internal data processes
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with Fleet leadership, district teams, and shop operations
    • Support data needs for related teams such as Safety and Finance as needed
    • Communicate insights in a clear and practical way to non-technical users
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field location.

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of responsible experience in data analysis or business intelligence
  • 3 - 5 years of experience building dashboards and working with large datasets
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with telematics or fleet data, especially Geotab or similar platforms
    • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools experience using Python for data analysis or automation Basic knowledge of SQL or data querying
    • Experience in construction, utilities, transportation, or fleet-related environments

Preferred Education

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science Business or comparable discipline preferred, equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience considered in lieu of degree
