What is a telemarketer?

Telemarketers are professionals who contact potential customers by phone to promote products, services, or gather information for market research. They typically work in call centers or remotely, following scripts to engage with clients, answer questions, and attempt to make sales or set appointments. Telemarketers may work for a variety of industries and are often responsible for meeting specific sales or outreach targets. Their role requires good communication skills, resilience in handling rejections, and the ability to quickly learn about the products or services they represent.

What is a telemarketer?

Telemarketers are marketing and sales professionals who contact potential leads by telephone to sell products or services. Telemarketers work in a variety of industries, generally in an office setting or call center, and can make many calls a day. They can be b2b (business to business) telemarketers or b2c (business to consumer) telemarketers. Some telemarketers are focused strictly on lead generation, while others call to share a sales promotion or opportunity with a customer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a telemarketer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Telemarketer, you need strong verbal communication skills, persuasive abilities, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software and auto-dialing systems is typically required. Resilience, active listening, and a positive attitude help standout performers handle rejection and build rapport with potential customers. These skills are crucial for achieving sales targets, maintaining customer satisfaction, and contributing to overall business growth.

What are some common challenges telemarketers face, and how can they overcome them?

Telemarketers often encounter challenges such as handling rejection, maintaining motivation during repetitive tasks, and meeting sales targets. To overcome these hurdles, it's important to develop resilience, use scripts as flexible guides rather than rigid instructions, and seek constructive feedback from supervisors. Regular team meetings and ongoing training sessions can also provide valuable support, helping telemarketers refine their communication skills and stay engaged in a fast-paced environment.

  • College students seeking part-time income

  • Stay-at-home moms looking for flexible work

Top performers may receive licensing assistance (not paid) and can grow into a licensed insurance agent role with long-term career growth.

Position Overview

As a Telemarketer, you will be the first point of contact for potential clients. Your job is to engage prospects, generate interest, qualify leads, and transfer qualified prospects to licensed agents.

This is a high-volume outbound calling role — 200+ calls/day — with no warm leads.

We offer full-time and part-time schedules, providing flexibility for students, stay-at-home parents, or anyone looking to supplement their income.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make 200+ outbound calls per day

  • Deliver professional scripts in English and Spanish

  • Build rapport quickly and handle objections effectively

  • Identify and qualify potential insurance leads for transfer to licensed agents

  • Accurately log all call activity and outcomes in CRM

  • Follow up with potential clients when appropriate

  • Collaborate with team members to optimize scripts and sales strategies

  • Maintain a professional, energetic, and persistent attitude

Expectations

  • High-volume calling: 200+ calls/day

  • Meet daily, weekly, and monthly performance goals

  • Represent our agency with professionalism and enthusiasm

  • Handle rejections positively and maintain persistence

  • Participate in team collaboration and training

Qualifications

  • Bilingual: Spanish & English (Required)

  • Telemarketing or call center experience preferred, but motivated college students and stay-at-home moms welcome

  • Strong communication, persuasion, and objection-handling skills

  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and commission-driven

  • Reliable, consistent, and able to follow scripts and processes

Compensation

  • $15–$18 per hour + strong commission potential

  • Weekly and monthly performance bonuses

  • Opportunity to grow into a licensed agent role

  • Licensing assistance available for top performers (not paid licensing)

Schedule

  • Full-Time and Part-Time roles available

  • Monday–Friday

  • Flexible hours for part-time applicants, college students, and stay-at-home parents

Why Join Our Team?

  • Competitive hourly pay with high commission upside

  • Flexible scheduling ideal for students and stay-at-home parents

  • Scripts, training, and support provided

  • Career growth path to a licensed agent role

  • Supportive, fast-paced, high-energy team environment
