Materials Estimator

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Materials Estimatorto join our growing team. As a key member of the Finance team supporting direct and indirect programs, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials and supplies necessary for our operations.

Duties Include:

  • Entering purchase requests and creating requisition in ERP system
  • Responsible for tracking materials required for production and operation
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers as necessary
  • Maintain accurate records of all requests and requisitions
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to existing suppliers and materials as necessary
  • Assist with the development and implementation of procurement strategies and policies
  • Identify new sources of supply as necessary and have vendor forms completed
  • Request quotes/provide shopping carts as needed for requisition backup
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure materials are procured in a cost-effective manner
  • Inventory processing to issue Invariant inventory to applicable direct jobs as needed
  • Prepares Basis of Estimate (BOE) in early stages of planning
  • Prepares Bill of Materials (BOMs) in proposal stage through execution of award
  • Perform cost analysis and estimates on pricing for proposal efforts
  • Ensure compliance with corporate estimating policy, GAAP, and FAR/DFAR regulations to establish reasonableness of cost and pricing
  • Adherence to schedules throughout the BOM process
  • Provide continuous KPIs to Program Team
  • Understands drawings/CM, procurement, production, inventory, MRP, and PLM
  • Attend Meetings as required

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in government procurement or a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of procurement and supply chain principles
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with little oversight to complete tasks with quality and timeliness
  • Experience with procurement software and systems
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
  • Highly motivated
  • Strong work ethic
  • Knowledge and attention to maintaining Ethical Business Practices
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field

Preferred qualifications include familiarity with some or all, of the following:

  • Equivalent work experience will be considered
  • Experience with JAMIS Prime is a plus
  • Some knowledge of government regulations as related to Procurement
  • Previous experience in a federal contracting environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs

Work Environment

  • Office, lab, and field, environments.
  • Demonstrates innovation, quick learning, excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing, and adaptive thinking.
  • Requires ability to interact professionally in a small, fast-paced, and mission-driven environment with co-workers, management, and client.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting for extended periods of time at desk, in telecoms/meetings with peers, management.
  • Ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at customer worksites and Invariant facilities during travel.

Equipment And Machines

  • Requires ability to operate a personal computer, telephone, printer, copier, and other general office equipment.

Attendance

  • Normal workday is from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday.
  • Support will be provided as needed during this time frame, but small efforts may be required at any time to support operations.

Other Essential Functions

  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

This position is expected to be performed only in the state of Alabama.
