This position serves as Consulting Informatics Nurse Specialist, Enterprise Clinical Downtime within DT&I, Clinical Informatics. Charged with leading assigned enterprise clinical downtime initiatives that support continuity of patient care, clinician workflow, and operational resilience during downtime and recovery events. This person provides advanced clinical informatics consultation and project leadership for enterprise clinical downtime readiness efforts.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to leadership of complex enterprise workstreams, governance and council support, development and maintenance of guidance and tools, readiness assessment support, and collaboration with divisions and facilities to drive improvement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in clinical informatics, clinical operations, workflow analysis, electronic health records, project leadership, and stakeholder engagement.

Collaborate with the AVP and Director of Enterprise Clinical Downtime, Information Technology Group, nursing and clinical leaders at the corporate, division, and facility levels to execute program priorities and support successful clinical downtimes. Partner with cross functional stakeholders to gather feedback, identify gaps, develop solutions, and promote enterprise standardization, education, and readiness activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead assigned enterprise clinical downtime initiatives and complex workstreams in support of program goals and operational readiness
  • Translate program direction into actionable plans, tools, workflows, guides, education, and deliverables for divisions and facilities
  • Coordinate and support Enterprise Clinical Downtime Council and related workgroup activities by providing project leadership, recommendations, and follow through on deliverables
  • Serve as a senior subject matter expert for clinical workflows, downtime readiness, and recovery planning
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve enterprise guidance, procedures, toolkits, job aids, and supporting documentation related to clinical downtime
  • Partner with cross functional teams to design, facilitate, and evaluate education, drills, tabletop exercises, and other readiness activities
  • Support clinical response and recovery during downtime incidents by assessing workflow impacts, identifying operational needs, escalating issues, and supporting communication
  • Represent as a collaborative member of the Informatics team. Lead/attend joint meetings and initiatives with HCA colleagues.
  • Coordinate, problem solve, and manage expectations within all levels of organization. Work with divisions, facilities, multidisciplinary teams, including clinical and non-clinical staff, to develop and implement procedures and programs
  • Conduct readiness assessments, gap analyses, observations, and follow up planning with divisions and facilities
  • Analyze findings, feedback, and operational data to identify trends, recommend improvements, and support enterprise standardization

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to execute strategies and solutions to loosely-defined business problems/opportunities
  • Ability to communicate recommendations and solutions effectively in written and spoken word to all levels of an organization
  • Experience and knowledge about working with EHR and clinical informatics solutions within a healthcare system
  • Knowledge and solid understanding of the healthcare industry with a focus on enhancing clinician workflow through technology solutions
  • Experience in business needs assessments, prioritization techniques, and business case development
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills
  • Experience with clinical downtime, EHR contingency workflows, emergency preparedness, business continuity, or related incident response preferred

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Registered Nurse required 
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Nursing Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field preferred
  • 3-7 years Clinical/Nursing Informatics required with experience in using healthcare technology
  • Experience leading complex, multi-site, or enterprise initiatives preferred
  • Board Certification in Nursing Informatics preferred
  • 5 years in clinical practice required
  • 25% travel may be required
  • Hybrid position located in Nashville, TN
