Job description

Electrical Engineer

Your Role at BSI

Our Electrical Engineering team has many years of experience designing power distribution systems for clients in many different industries. Our Electrical Engineers work closely with our full-service team to ensure a fully integrated design package of the highest quality is provided. They assess client needs and create designs that ensure Code compliance and personnel safety, while achieving the client’s desired goals. Project scopes will range from full facility and process designs for greenfield projects to retrofits and upgrades of equipment in existing sites.

To support collaboration, mentorship opportunities, and effective project execution, BSI Engineering has adopted a hybrid work schedule in which employees are in the office a minimum of three days per week.


Responsibilities and Scope

  • Execute electrical engineering design scope for single and multi-discipline projects while ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards. Perform the Lead role as assigned.
  • Ensures quality and technical accuracy of their own project deliverables including calculations and design effort to prepare deliverables.
  • Meets discipline’s engineering schedule and budget objectives on assigned projects.
  • Self performs design of low voltage (600 and below) industrial power distribution systems, including:
    • Specifying power distribution equipment
    • Sizing overcurrent protection
    • Sizing conductors, conduit, and cable tray
  • Assist in the design of medium voltage (MV) power distribution systems, including the selection, specification, and incorporation of MV equipment.
  • Assists in short circuit/arc flash/coordination and load studies.
  • Self performs the specification and design modification of MCCs, including single lines and layout of MCC elevations.
  • Self performs the design of cable tray and conduit systems and the specification of low voltage distribution equipment.
  • Participate in construction support, startup and commissioning efforts.
  • Interfaces with clients on a regular basis.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, or related discipline, required
  • 5+ years of electrical design experience
  • Exposure to EasyPower and/or SKM software
  • Familiar with AutoCAD and Revit software
  • Experience with load studies required
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code
  • Industrial power distribution experience required
  • Ability to specify power distribution equipment
  • Familiarity with lighting design and lighting controls
  • Familiarity with grounding system design
  • Field exposure to various manufacturing, industrial, commercial, or institutional environments
