Job description

Summary
Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to manage the day to day of the Above and Below Grade Inspection services in the telecommunication vertical. Positional responsibilities, further detailed below, include but are not limited to various technical evaluations, project management, client management, and administrative support services associated with turnkey structural engineering projects. This position will require a minimum of four (4) years of experience in the structural engineering/inspections field, demonstrated experience performing above-grade inspections of telecommunication infrastructure, and experience managing field crews. Career and/or educational experience should establish a thorough familiarity of pre-requisite data requirements for structural analyses/design of telecommunications structures, and experience gathering and/or leading teams in the field aspects of above grade inspection methodology required to obtain such data, is required.
Positional Responsibilities
The Engineering Manager will be required to manage the day to day aspects of the Inspections department, overseeing field crews, along with the technical review of gathered data and reporting. This position is responsible for coordinating with and assisting the Director of Inspections to develop/adjust technical and operational approaches for field and office procedures, implementing these procedures, and ensuring all associated department production goals (schedule, capacity and quality) are realized. He/She will be requested to assist with hiring and retaining staff as necessary for the successful completion of these goals.
The selected individual will be expected to apply analytical, design, program management, and collaboration skills to complete inspection services focused primarily in the telecommunications market. Anticipated tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Manage and coordinate the day to day aspects of the above and below grade field inspection services
  • Managing field crews, including technical, schedule, pacing, and equipment usage in accordance with company guidelines and policies
  • Serve as a technical resource for field crews; responding to inspector queries, issues, concerns
  • Review/compile department deliverables, including but not limited to TIA Inspection Reports, Tower Mappings, Mount Mappings, Foundation Mappings, Post Construction/Modification Inspections
  • Work with the project coordinator to proactively track field work completion status, taking action as schedule expectations dictate
  • Assist with tracking field crew performance per company expectations, addressing and escalating issues as required
  • Assist with the development/implementation of protocols and standard operating procedures for items such as travel scheduling, field data collection, field crew management and performance assessment, and report compilation
  • Assist with the identification and onboarding of potential field crew members
  • Assist in training field crews regarding technical, safety, and company policy procedures
  • Maintain, enforce and promote company safety guidelines
  • Working with colleagues to properly distribute field personnel and equipment assets to meet client scheduling demands
  • Assist with client management and maintenance
The selected individual will be expected to have an in-depth understanding of Inspection services, deliverables, and technical aspects. Due to the nature and limited timelines of most projects, the selected candidate should be willing and capable of exhibiting the work ethic and social ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment where timely communication with co-workers, clients and strategic partners is paramount.
Computer Software Experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and advanced Excel functions is required
  • Knowledge of structural analysis and design software including TNX Tower, RISA 3D, and foundation design/analysis programs is desired
  • Functional proficiency with AutoCAD is preferred
Experience/Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience and demonstrated proficiency in the evaluation, and/or inspection of telecommunication structures including tower and foundation components
  • E.I. required with P.E. registration preferred
  • Working knowledge and thorough familiarity with codes and standards relating to telecommunication structures, including TIA/EIA-222 requirements
  • Ability to interpret design drawings regarding spatial relationships of various telecommunications infrastructure as it relates to above and below grade structural design requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with contractors, clients or their representatives, jurisdictional officials and other engineering vendors
  • Knowledge of bolted and welded connections
  • Knowledge of tower hardware and components
  • Knowledge of tower reinforcement/erection and tower construction practices preferred
  • Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license and be insurable under the companys standards employment contingent upon passing a motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
