Summary
Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to perform various geotechnical engineering services, as part of our Geotechnical Engineering Department located in Raleigh, NC. These services include but are not limited to various technical evaluations as well as project management/administrative support services associated with the practice of geotechnical engineering. This position will require zero (0) to seven (7) years of experience within the geotechnical or similar engineering field. Experience with deep and shallow foundations, laboratory soil analyses, and technical reports issuance with limited supervision is a plus.
Positional Responsibilities
Under the supervision of senior engineering professionals, the selected individual will be expected to apply strong analytical skills in areas of geotechnical engineering across multiple markets, including the commercial and telecommunications industries. Anticipated tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Soil and rock classification, soil laboratory testing and analysis
  • Technical analyses of earth retention systems
  • Technical analyses of shallow, deep, and specialized foundations
  • Report and supporting document preparation and compilation (for all technical analyses)
  • Providing communication and support services to subcontractor partners
  • Knowledge of Bishop's Method of Slices and Infinite Slope failure analysis is a plus

Due to the nature and limited timelines of most projects, the selected individual should be willing and capable of exhibiting the work ethic and social ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment where communication with co-workers and strategic partners is paramount.
Computer Software Experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel is required
  • Experience with geotechnical analysis programs such as Shaft and gINT a plus
  • Experience with computer drafting software (AutoCAD) is a plus
  • Experience with slope stability software such as STABL Suite, Geoslope, and/or equivalent software is a plus

Required Experience and Supplementary Skills
This is an entry-level position. However, some engineering experience is preferred. Candidate should possess technical verbal / writing skills, and ability to read technical literature and engineering plans.
If background and job experience fit, higher experience levels will be considered.
Education
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution. Engineer in training ("EIT") or Engineering Intern "EI" certification is required. Professional Engineer "PE" registration is a plus.
