Job Summary: The Jr. Telecom/Security System Specialist performs a variety of new installations, replacements and troubleshooting on current systems. Under the supervision of Management, the technician provides expert support on access control, alarm monitoring, surveillance and telecommunication. Assist with the system design, implementation, maintenance and ongoing support of all related security and telecommunication system at the WMC Health Network.
Responsibilities:
• Start and complete work scope for the department's objectives as they relate to Security system/ Telecommunication services.
• Under the supervision of Management, the technician provides expert support for access control, alarm monitoring, surveillance and Telecommunication.
• Assist with the system design, implementation, maintenance and ongoing support of all related security and telecommunication system at the WMC Health Network.
• Maintains a detailed knowledge of the current technology in Telecommunication and Security systems currently being implemented in the WMC Health Network.
• Assist in the implementation and on-going development of Security and Telecommunication systems.
• Everyday operations (new installs, repairs, and maintenance for entire WMC Health Network).
• Responsible for trouble-shooting system related problems, contacting vendors for support of systems, and contacting Information Support Desk for hardware and network-related problems.
• Works directly with the Locksmith Division to include security related door hardware that is separate from the man networked systems.
• Works with I.S. department representatives on preparing detailed specifications and system standards across.
• Define system scope and objective through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex system.
• Installing and troubleshooting all Security and Telecommunication systems.
• Upgrading and maintaining our Telecommunication and Security system.
• Following our preventive maintenance for Telecommunication and Security system.
• Replace all outdated equipment to new current solution.
• Troubleshooting and repairing all problems with network, Telecom and all Security systems.
• Installing and troubleshooting VOIP infrastructure.
• Upgrading TV Cabling.
• Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.
• Managing spreadsheets for Telecommunications and Security equipment.
• Travel within our hospital network.
• Fire stopping all penetration after project.
• Must communicate with other department heads to coordinate new and existing upgrades and installation.
• Mounting Data Racks, Ladder rack and Grounding.
• Must be able to train new employees.
• Must be flexible to work OT in case of an emergency.
• Provide technical expertise to diagnose and resolve hardware and software related problems.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Previous experience and/or certifications with Microsoft, Dell, and Cisco is a plus. Knowledge of installing and troubleshooting all Security and Telecommunication systems, such as; Access control, surveillance, Infant protection, visitor management, parking, wireless, and Data Infrastructures. Knowledge on Data and security Infrastructure, installing and terminating proper cabling solutions for such as; Cat 6, Fiber, Helix cable, Access Control cabling, Video Intercom cabling and also Audio Visual cabling. Familiarity with common power and hand tools and learn the operation of a variety of power tools and equipment as needed. Capable of following accident and safety precautions. Knowledge to make basic maintenance repairs and learn basic technical skills. Knowledge on running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables; installing telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, multiplexors, cable trays, building ironwork and ladder racks; establishing connections; programming features; establishing connections and integrations; following industry standards; activating remote access tools. Knowledge on fire stopping materials. Basic knowledge on all electrical Conduits. Knowledge on fluke testing and certification tools. Basic knowledge on Blue prints and understanding the difference between a smoke wall and a fire-rated wall. Ability to quickly and accurately diagnose technology problems.
Education: High school or equivalency diploma required; Associate's Degree or a satisfactory completion of 50 credits or more preferred.
Licenses / Certifications: Must have a driver's license and be willing to travel within our WMC Health Network.
Other: Ability to follow oral or written instructions, work effectively individually, or as part of a team.
Knowledge on the use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software. Knowledge to read, write, speak, understand and communicate sufficiently in English to perform the essential functions of the position.
