Summary
The Information Technology Systems Manager is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of the City's information technology infrastructure and electronic building security systems. This position provides hands-on technical support for computer hardware, software, networks, telecommunications, and end users while ensuring the reliable operation of technology systems throughout the organization. The Systems Manager also manages electronic access control, surveillance systems, and other technology-based building security systems.
The position serves as the City's primary IT professional and collaborates with contracted technology vendors on advanced technical support, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and specialized projects.
Example of Duties
Information Technology
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Administer Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, user accounts, and system permissions.
  • Provide technical support to City employees and resolve hardware, software, network, and application issues.
  • Monitor, maintain, and update technology systems to ensure reliability, security, and performance.
  • Assist with technology planning, budgeting, equipment replacement, software licensing, and asset management.
  • Maintain documentation of systems, procedures, inventory, and technology standards.
Network & Cybersecurity
  • Support and monitor the City's network infrastructure, wireless systems, telecommunications, and internet connectivity.
  • Implement cybersecurity best practices, system updates, endpoint protection, and user security awareness.
  • Assist with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity efforts.
  • Coordinate with contracted IT providers on complex technical issues, infrastructure projects, and cybersecurity initiatives.
Building Security Systems
  • Administer electronic access control systems, employee badge access, surveillance cameras, and related security technologies.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic security equipment.
  • Coordinate maintenance and upgrades of building security systems.

Vendor & Project Coordination

Minimum Qualifications
