Telecommunication Technician Level 1
Position Summary:
Alamon, Inc., a Montana-based employee-owned company since 1975, provides installation services to the utilities, energy, and communications industries nationwide. There is no ceiling when it comes to your professional growth at Alamon, an employee - owned company.
Alamon, Inc. seeks a Telecommunication Technician Level 1 for its Network Services department.
The Level I Telecom Installation Technician is an entry-level field position responsible for assisting with the installation, modification, maintenance, and telecommunications infrastructure and related equipment at customer facilities. This position works under the direction of experienced technicians, field supervisors, and project leadership while developing the technical skills necessary to progress within the telecom installation career path.
The Level I Technician supports work in environments such as central offices, data centers, switching facilities, huts, shelters, wireless sites, and other telecommunications facilities. Work may include assisting with the installation of equipment racks and cabinets, cable management systems, DC power equipment, batteries, grounding systems, fiber and copper cabling, and other associated infrastructure.
This position will be local for training purposes and travel will be required after 30 days.

Job Description:
• Assist experienced technicians with telecommunications equipment installation and removal.
• Install and secure equipment racks, cabinets, cable racks, ladder rack, and related infrastructure.
• Route, dress, secure, label, and terminate telecommunications cabling under appropriate supervision.
• Assist with installation of DC power cabling, grounding and bonding, battery systems, rectifiers, power plants, and associated equipment.
• Assist with fiber-optic and copper cable installation and routing.
• Perform basic equipment assembly and hardware installation.
• Read and follow basic engineering drawings, installation specifications, site documentation, and MOPs with supervision.
• Perform basic measurements and use common hand and power tools safely.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and organization of the work area.
• Assist with material receiving, inventory, staging, and equipment verification.
• Identify and report discrepancies, damaged equipment, safety concerns, or installation issues to field leadership.
• Complete required daily documentation, time reporting, photographs, and project records.
• Follow customer-specific security, access, and site requirements.
• Maintain company tools, vehicles, equipment, and assigned PPE.
• Participate in company training and actively develop telecom installation skills.
• Travel to customer locations and work varying schedules as project requirements dictate.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
• Possess a current driver's license and vehicle insurance.
• Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel.
• Pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
• Must be proficient with a laptop.
• Possess excellent time-management skills and multitasking abilities.
• Possess a strong attention to detail and have a passion for accuracy.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently.
• Have a strong network configuration and installation background.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications: Email, Excel, Word
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Vocational school training or apprenticeship is preferred.
• Have the ability to work with and demonstrate the safe operation of power tools including bandsaws, rotary tools, cable cutters, hammer drills, and hydraulic crimpers.
• Thorough understanding of, and adherence to company safety policies and incident reporting procedures.
• On-the-job training provided.
Physical Requirements:
• Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at a time.
• Must be able to ride in a vehicle for extended periods of time to travel to and from job sites.
• Ability to work in different temperatures and through changing weather conditions.
• Must be able to traverse all areas of the Jobsite. This may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, kneeling or stretching.
• Ability to clearly distinguish colors, shades, and brightness when working with multi-colored cablings such as twisted pair copper and fiber optic cable.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and use practical judgment while working through job assignments.
• Ability to work at heights, handle ladders, along with pushing and pulling equipment.
Work Environment:
• The Level 1 Telecommunication Technician position requires visiting Alamon customer site facilities nationwide, travel is required.
• Must be able to work in enterprise, educational, warehouse, and manufacturing settings.
• Indoor and outdoor work will be based off the scope of the contract.
• Exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, varying noise levels, and wet or slick surfaces may be possible.
• When appropriate, wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations.
• This position may require working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions and terrain; may work for long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions.
Travel Requirements:
• This is a full-time position that requires extensive travel.
• Lodging is provided while working and traveling for the Company.
