Location Status: Work will be primarily performed at a designated field worksite location based out of a central Race Communications worksite. Occasional travel to and work from other Race offices or other off-site locations may be required.

Position Impact:

The Network Facilities Technician is responsible, for maintaining network infrastructure to support reliable and efficient communication services. With a focus on physical facilities and equipment, this role involves the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network components at various sites such as overhead Framing, DC Plants, Cable Stitching, relay racks, Switches, Servers, cable termination and testing. respond to Electrical outages, telecom disruptions, and security systems. These systems include, generators, DC Plants, ATS', & PDU's. The Network Facilities Technician collaborates closely with network engineers and other Race team members to ensure the seamless operation of telecommunications networks, troubleshoots issues, and collaborates solutions to optimize network performance and reliability. With a strong understanding of network technologies and infrastructure, as well as expertise in facility Safety practices, this role plays a crucial part in ensuring the delivery of high-quality telecommunications services to customers.

This individual should be able to communicate and work effectively with external service representatives and internal team members who possess a wide variety of backgrounds, personalities, and communication skills. This individual should be able to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving environment while maintaining a productive professional demeanor. This individual must be capable of working independently, as well as collaboratively with other Race team members across teams and levels of our organization.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

Eligibility for US Employment without sponsorship

Minimum of 18 years of age

A valid driver's license, subject to successful verification through a DMV check, is mandatory

2+ years of experience as an installer in a telecom industry

Minimum of 2 years working experience in network facilities (DC Power Plants, Generators, Air Conditioning, ATS, Fiber Cross Connects, Fiber Troubleshooting, Data Centers) required

Proficiency in standard electrical and telecom testing tools (Volt Meter, OTDR, VFL, Optical Power Meter) required

Demonstrated ability to lift heavy equipment/items weighing up to 80 pounds safely and effectively, ensuring adherence to proper lifting techniques and workplace safety protocols

Flexibility to work during various shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary and/or as required by operational needs

The ability to effectively communicate in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension, as necessary for effective job performance and workplace communication

Skills:

Proficient use of MS Office applications including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; teleconferencing applications

Functional use of common office equipment, computers, and office software

Strong time management skills, with the ability to manage priorities and workflow

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Preventative Maintenance and Network Support:

Performs and schedules preventative maintenance on network infrastructure (e.g. DC Power Plants, Generators, Air Conditioning, ATC, Active Panels, POP's, Data Centers, Core Electronic, BDFB), or manages vendors

Performs routine maintenance tasks, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities on network infrastructure and facilities to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and uptime

Equipment Installation and Management:

Installs equipment in new and existing deployments of network facilities (e.g. Routers, Switches, Servers, Cameras, Racks)

On-site Incident Response:

Promptly responds to network and facility-related incidents, outages, and service disruptions occurring within the network infrastructure or facilities, troubleshooting issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to address emergencies or unexpected events, such as equipment failures, power outages, or security breaches

Identifies the root cause of issues, implements corrective actions to minimize downtime and service disruptions, and coordinates effectively with relevant stakeholders to resolve the issue

Collaboration and Support:

Collaborates closely within the department, including engineers, technicians, and administrators providing input to peers for general maintenance activities such as sharing knowledge, expertise, and best practices to ensure the smooth operation and routine maintenance of network infrastructure

Aids during critical maintenance activities, such as equipment upgrades, system migrations, or emergency repairs including hands-on assistance to colleagues, troubleshooting, technical issues, and implementing necessary adjustments or repairs to minimize downtime and maintain network reliability

Infrastructure Projects:

Carries out basic infrastructure projects aimed at expanding, upgrading, or optimizing network facilities such as project execution, task coordination, technical implementation, documentation, and compliance

Contributes to the ongoing development, expansion, and enhancement of network infrastructure to meet the organization's evolving business needs and objectives

Technical Tasks:

Ensures the effective operation and maintenance of network infrastructure:

Establishes and maintains fiber and copper cross-connects within network facilities

Conducts OTDR Testing to analyze the quality and characteristics of optical fiber links

Installs, manages, and maintains DC Power Cabling infrastructure

Documentation and Reporting:

Creates and maintains comprehensive MOPs (Method of Procedure), SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and EOPs (Emergency Operating Procedures) essential to ensure traceability, streamlines troubleshooting processes and supports future maintenance activities are in alignment with established guidelines

Documents network infrastructure configurations, facility layouts, equipment inventories, and maintenance procedures in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements

Generates reports and documentation on network and facility performance, including uptime statistics, maintenance activities, and incident resolutions

Travel Requirements:

Extensively travels to various project sites, data centers, and network facilities to install, perform maintenance tasks, and responds to on-site incidents

Expected to travel often, requiring overnight stays, to ensure timely completion of project tasks and support ongoing operations

Expected travel to remote or client sites may be necessary for special projects, equipment upgrades, or customer support needs

Expected to travel on short notice in response to emergency situations or critical maintenance requirements
