Job description

Job Overview
The Test Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and executing functional tests of embedded firmware within Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) products. This role ensures product quality, reliability, and performance through structured testing processes and cross-functional collaboration.
A Day In The Life
Design, develop, and execute functional test plans and test cases for embedded firmware and system-level validation
  • Primarily laboratory-based with hands-on testing of electronic products
  • Collaboration with engineering, quality, and product development teams
  • Analyze requirements and translate them into comprehensive test strategies
  • Identify, document, and track defects; collaborate with engineering teams to drive resolution
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts where applicable
  • Support validation activities for new product development and existing product enhancements
  • Work closely with engineers and lab technicians to execute testing in a collaborative lab environment
  • Ensure timely completion of testing activities aligned with project schedules
  • Maintain accurate test documentation, including procedures, results, and reports
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback to improve testability and product quality
  • Continuously improve testing processes, tools, and methodologies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What will help you thrive in this role?
  • 1-5 years of experience in product testing, validation, or embedded systems (or equivalent internship/co-op experience)
  • Experience with firmware or embedded systems testing preferred
  • Understanding of embedded systems and firmware testing methodologies
  • Basic programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python, C, or similar) preferred
  • Familiarity with test automation tools and frameworks is a plus
  • Experience using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers) is desirable
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Knowledge of defect tracking and test management tools is a plus
