As an Experienced Photonic Card Software Developer, you will be part of a team that designs, implements, integrates, and maintains photonic card software for several of Ciena's Optical Network flagship products. You will contribute to developing and introducing new products, supporting existing products, and participating in life-cycle management design activities. You will interact with both internal teams and external stakeholders to look after in-house products and vendor-supplied components.

The Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's or higher-level degree in computer or electrical engineering, computer science, or similar disciplines.

  • Eight years of industry experience developing software for Linux or RTOS targets preferably for embedded systems or telecom products.

  • Expert-level C and Python programming skills.

Nice to Haves:

  • Understanding of CPU hardware architectures, hardware functional specifications, hardware timing diagrams, device data sheets.

  • Affinity for developing and working with software close to hardware.

  • Experience with developing software for data-driven architectures, YANG, REST, JSON, XML.

  • Experience working in a Linux development environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with AI tools to improve quality and efficiency.

  • Proficiency with software development tools such as git, BitBucket, Gerrit, and Jira.

  • Familiarity with unit test frameworks such as Google Test, JUnit, Robot, PyTest.

  • Experience with debuggers and tools for developing and troubleshooting software.

  • Knowledge of high-level programming and scripting languages such as C++, Java, Perl, Tcl, LUA, bash.

  • Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall.

  • Familiarity with datacom and telecom concepts such as DWDM, SONET/SDH, OTN, Ethernet, OSI Model, TCP/IP, MPLS.

Pay Range:
The salary range for this role is $79, 800 - $127, 600

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
