Job description

Our client in Toronto is seeking an experienced dry utility project manager for projects across the GTA. The successful candidate will oversee project planning, execution, and completion while ensuring quality, safety, and financial targets are consistently achieved. This is a leadership role that requires strong technical knowledge, client engagement skills, and the ability to manage diverse project teams for a leading utility contractor.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all phases of utilities and related civil scopes.
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans to ensure successful delivery.
  • Oversee field operations in collaboration with site superintendents and foremen.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and municipal authorities to maintain effective communication and project alignment.
  • Monitor project costs, forecasting, and change order management to ensure financial accountability.
  • Enforce quality control, safety compliance, and environmental standards across all project activities.
  • Identify risks, resolve issues proactively, and escalate when necessary.
  • Mentor and support project staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Prepare and deliver regular progress reports to senior management and clients.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of project management experience in civil infrastructure, with a strong focus on sewer & water, earthworks, and utility construction.
  • Experience working on rail projects would be an asset
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from tender through closeout.
  • Strong knowledge of municipal standards, permitting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with project management software, MS Office Suite, and scheduling tools.
  • PMP designation or P.Eng. is considered an asset.
  • 5 Days in office work - no hybrid
