Job description

Valley Telecom is looking for a Telecommunications Technician to join our team!

Responsibilities:

  • The job requires knowledge in the termination of voice and data jacks and pulling Cat 5e/6 and fiber optic cable through attic and crawl spaces.
  • Other duties include running and splicing cables and installing equipment such as routers, switches, fire-suppression systems, alarms, and more.
  • You then test everything to verify it works correctly, find and solve any issues, and provide maintenance service as needed while updating all written or digital records. You are required to travel local for this position, and some employers expect you to work on-call or during weekends and holidays.

Qualifications:

  • Experienced in the installation of copper Category 5 and fiber optic data cabling in commercial and residential buildings.
  • Job requires knowledge in the termination of voice and data jacks and pulling cable through attic and crawl spaces.
  • Candidate must be able to work on ladders and occasionally work on man or scissor lifts.
  • Good communication skills
  • Customer relations skills are a must.
  • Candidate must have the ability to work as a team and follow instructions as directed by the team leader.
  • Helpers and less experienced individuals are encouraged to apply but must have a strong work ethic and be willing to learn.
