Fiber I&R Technician – Cortland, OH
Role Summary

The Fiber I&R Technician installs, maintains, and repairs fiber optic internet services for residential and commercial customers in Ohio. This is a full-time, W-2 position with CS Contract Solutions — you'll be employed directly by CS and deployed to work on behalf of our telecom carrier clients across your assigned region. As a field technician, you must be flexible with work locations as client project needs shift, and you'll be expected to deliver world-class quality installations along with clear product education for every customer.

Location & Travel

Primary service area(s): Cortland, OH

Training: This role requires a paid one-week training program in Bedford, NH, including travel and overnight lodging, shortly after hire.

Compensation & Pay Structure

This is a production-based pay position (per completed job), not a fixed hourly or salary rate.

Estimated annual earnings range: $104,000 – $208,000, reflecting typical to top-performing technicians once fully ramped. Specific pay details will be shared upon resume submission.

Paid training is available for all skill levels.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic systems — including placing aerial or buried drops and interior/exterior wiring — for residential and commercial customers.
  • Complete pre-install work orders and post-install service verification, confirming internet, phone, and (if applicable) TV service performance before leaving the job site.
  • Provide clear product education to customers to ensure satisfaction and reduce repeat visits.
  • Observe all safety rules and OSHA regulations, including safe work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Keep scheduled customer appointments, and log work orders and time accurately using internal systems.
  • Maintain minimum acceptable metrics for Repeats, Productivity, and Completions.
  • Assist other technicians and adapt to new processes and information as the job requires.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
  • Fiber optic internet and home phone service experience preferred; paid training provided for all skill levels.
  • Must have your own truck, van, or SUV with a ladder rack, plus your own tools and safety equipment per the company's required checklist.
  • Smartphone, laptop, and Microsoft Excel required.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs unassisted.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to multi-task and work as part of a team.
  • Must pass background check, MVR screen, and drug test.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends depending on customer and client needs.
